National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention
National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention (NIVDC) is an independent legal institution, which belongs to Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention with excellent academic tradition and strong scientific research ability. There are 4 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences, 2 academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering and one recipient of the Highest State Science and Technology Award successively in NIVDC. NIVDC has a long standing reputation in the field of medical virology, bearing four functions: emergency response, disease control and prevention, scientific research, and education and training. NIVDC is also an exclusive national organization for viral disease control and prevention. NIVDC has several WHO Collaboration Centers/Laboratories for Virus Reference and Researches and National Research Centers, including WHO Influenza Collaboration Reference Center, WHO Western-Pacific Region (WPR) Polio Reference Laboratory, WHO WPR Measles and Rubella Reference Laboratory, WHO WPR Japanese Encephalitis Reference Laboratory, WHO WPR Rotavirus Reference Laboratory, Chinese Center for Culture Collection of Microorganisms(Medical virus) and Key Laboratory of Medical Virology and Viral Disease, Ministry of Health and Family Planning Commission. NIVDC has won a lot of honors and awards including the honors of National advanced group of Medical and Health in 2010; National advanced group of Ebola epidemic prevention and control; National Youth Civilization of Youth team for Ebola Virus testing by the Central Commission of China Communist Youth League in 2015; National "May 4th" Red Flag Youth League branch and the Highest State Science and Technology Award in 2017.
