15 April 2013 Update - Human Infection with Avian Influenza A(H7N9) Virus in China

As of April 15, 2013 (18:00 Beijing Time), additional 3 cases of human infection with influenza A(H7N9) virus were laboratory confirmed (18:00 April 14-18:00 April 15 Beijing Time). One case is from Anhui, one from Zhejiang and the other from Jiangsu.


To date, a total of 63 cases have been laboratory confirmed with influenza A(H7N9) virus in mainland China, including 14 deaths. These cases are distributed over 6 provinces/municipalities, including Beijing (1 case, 0 death), Shanghai (24 cases, 9 deaths), Jiangsu (17 cases, 2 death), Zhejiang (16 cases, 2 deaths), Anhui (3 cases, 1 death) and Henan (2 cases, 0 death). So far, all confirmed human infections with A(H7N9) are sporadic cases, and there is no evidence of ongoing human-to-human transmission.
