Weekly Update (25 April - 1 May 2013) - Human Infection with Avian Influenza A(H7N9) Virus in China

As of May 1, 2013 (16:00 Beijing Time), additional nineteen cases of human infection with influenza A(H7N9) virus were laboratory confirmed (16:00 April 24 - 16:00 May 1 Beijing Time). Three cases are from Jiangsu, four from Zhejiang, three from Fujian, five from Jiangxi, one from Shandong, one from Henan and the other two from Hunan.

To date, a total of 127 cases have been laboratory confirmed with influenza A(H7N9) virus in mainland China, including 26 recovered and 26 deaths. These cases are distributed over 39 prefectures/districts of 10 provinces/municipalities, including Beijing (1 case, 0 death), Shanghai (33 cases, 13 deaths), Jiangsu (27 cases, 6 death), Zhejiang (46 cases, 6 deaths), Anhui (4 cases, 1 death), Fujian (3 cases, 0 death), Jiangxi (5 cases, 0 death), Shandong (2 case, 0 death), Henan (4 cases, 0 death) and Hunan (2 cases, 0 death). So far, all confirmed human infections with A(H7N9) are sporadic cases, and there is no evidence of ongoing human-to-human transmission.
