【Abstract】Objective To investigate the five2year dynamic changes of the indices of five infections among the employees of catering trade in Jing’an District , Shanghai1 Methods The data of medical examination for the employees of catering trade in Jing’an District from 1999 to 2003 were collected and analyzed1 Results 　In 2003 the positive rate of HBsAg was 39159/ 1000 ( 1974/ 27129) , lower than that in 1999 ( 41192/ 1000 , 1282/ 30582) with a decrease by 1142 %; the abnormal alanine transaminase (AL T) was 0148/ 1000 (13/ 27129) , lower than that in 1999 (1101/ 1000 ,31/ 30582) ; the HBsAg/ HBeAg positive rate was 8155/ 1000 , lower than that in 1999 (4151/ 1000 , 138/ 30582) with a decrease by 17133 %; the Salmonella + Shigella positive rate was 0155/ 1000 (15/ 27129) , higher than that in 1999 (0126/ 1000 , 8/ 30582) with a decrease by 40193 %; and the tuberculosis ( TB) positive rate was 0126/ 1000 ( 7/ 27129) , higher than that in 1999 (0107/ 1000 , 2/ 30582 ) 1 In general , the positive rates in these 5 indices were lower in the native employees of catering trade than in the immigrant employees1 The employees of catering trade , basically , had higher positive rates in term of these 5 indices than the employees of recreation trade1 Conclusion The positive rates in terms of the 5 infections among the employees of catering trade in Jing’an District are generally higher than those of the general population in China and lower than those among the employees of catering trade in other areas1 The positive rates , in general , decrease gradually1 However , the rates , especially the HBsAg/ HBeAg positive rate , remain higher among the immigrant employees than among the native employees.
