As of April 8, 2013 (17:00 Beijing Time), additional four cases of human infection with influenza A(H7N9) virus were laboratory confirmed (17:00 April 7-17:00 April 8 Beijing Time). One case is from Anhui, one is from Shanghai, and the other two are from Jiangsu.
To date, a total of 24 cases have been laboratory confirmed with influenza A(H7N9) virus in mainland China, including seven deaths. These cases scatter over 17 prefectures/districts of 4 provinces, including Shanghai (11 cases, 5 deaths), Jiangsu (8 cases, 0 death), Anhui (2 cases, 0 death) and Zhejiang (3 cases, 2 deaths).
At this time no epidemiological link between the human cases was identified. All close contacts are being closely monitored with medical observation, and no abnormal symptoms of illness were found in the contacts. So far, all confirmed human infections with A(H7N9) are sporadic cases, and there is no evidence of ongoing human-to-human transmission.
