[2013-04-13]

As of April 13, 2013 (17:00 Beijing Time), additional six cases of human infection with influenza A(H7N9) virus were laboratory confirmed (17:00 April 12-17:00 April 13 Beijing Time). One case is from Beijing, one from Shanghai, two from Jiangsu and the other two from Zhejiang.
To date, a total of 49 cases have been laboratory confirmed with influenza A(H7N9) virus in mainland China, including eleven deaths. These cases are distributed over 5 provinces, including Beijing (1 case, 0 death), Shanghai (21 cases, 7 deaths), Jiangsu (14 cases, 1 death), Anhui (2 cases, 1 death) and Zhejiang (11 cases, 2 deaths).
The newly confirmed case from Shanghai is the husband of one previous confirmed case from Shanghai. According to current information, no evidence is shown that the new Shanghai case was infected through the transmission from his spouse. All close contacts are being closely monitored with medical observation, and no other infection with A(H7N9) were found in the contacts. So far, all confirmed human infections with A(H7N9) are sporadic cases, and there is no evidence of ongoing human-to-human transmission.
