18 April 2013 Update - Human Infection with Avian Influenza A(H7N9) Virus in China

As of April 18, 2013 (17:00 Beijing Time), additional five
cases of human infection with influenza A(H7N9) virus were laboratory confirmed
(17:00 April 17-17:00 April 18 Beijing Time). One case is from Shanghai, one
from Jiangsu, two from Zhejiang and the other one from Henan. 

To date, a total of 87 cases have been laboratory
confirmed with influenza A(H7N9) virus in mainland China, including 6 recovered
and discharged, 64 in hospitalization and 17 deaths. These cases are
distributed over 32 prefectures/districts of 6 provinces/municipalities,
including Beijing (1 case, 0 death), Shanghai (32 cases, 11 deaths), Jiangsu (21
cases, 3 death), Zhejiang (27 cases, 2 deaths), Anhui (3 cases, 1 death) and
Henan (3 cases, 0 death). So far, all confirmed human infections with A(H7N9)
are sporadic cases, and there is no evidence of ongoing human-to-human
transmission.
