Postgraduate education in China CDC began in 1984, and has achieved significant development with continuous efforts for 30 years. At present, China CDC offers a variety of degree programs, including one Beijing key discipline (Pathogenic Biology), two doctoral
degree program of the First-level Discipline (Basic Medicine, Public Health and Preventive Medicine), eight doctoral and Master 's degree programs of the Second-level Disciplines, full-time and part-time Master of Public Health degree programs. Now China CDC has 140 master advisors and 62 doctoral supervisors, including 5 academicians (2 Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, 3 Academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering). Up to December in 2013, 684 doctor's degrees and 1,862 master s degrees (including 1,439 research-based and 423 MPH) have been conferred. There still are 580 students pursuing their degrees, including 161 doctoral candidates, 185 research-based postgraduates, 82 full-time and 132 part-time MPH students, 20 postgraduates from Union School of Public Health (USPH). Meanwhile, 28 post-doctoral professionals are studying in China CDC now.
